The camera works well, GPS logs are fine too, installation was quite easy after I found where to attach the + wire of the extra wire kit that I bought. My only problem is the quality of the video. The manufacture claims it is high definition, but it is not so true. It is enough to see details of the drive but absolutely not enough to see the licence plates unless the car is ~5 feet in front of you and the sun is not hitting it too much. The camera also has big problem when the sun starts to set but it still light out enough to drive without the headlights, the image becomes very very dark, night drive recording is a waste too.

I am very happy with the overall quality of this camera. It is solidly built and feels like it will last a while. The software that comes with it is very good and allows for easy downloading of the video and configuration of the camera. The GPS works fine and the G sensor is also effective. I had to make it less sensitive (setting to 3).Its biggest advantage is the wide angle lens. This will really see everything coming from your sides, so great for capturing everything that goes on in an accident or other traffic event. It is the 170 version - there is also a 120 version of this camera: SMARTY BX1500 PLUS 120 HD Smart Black Box Car Drive RecorderIts biggest let down is its fairly poor image quality. The picture is not sharp and does not look like 1280x960, even though it is. I am only able to recognize a license plate for a car stopped right in front of mine. I hear the 120 version is sharper.At night the street has to have some light - it will not show much when only your headlights are lighting up the road (and I have high intensity discharge xenons). Video is only 15 frames per second at the highest resolution mode.I was considering returning the camera and exchanging it for the 120 version but realized that it is more important to have a wider angle of view than having the sharpest picture.See my driving videos here to judge for yourself:[...]

This product is great. I have the camera mounted near the rear view mirror so it is out of sight from the driver's seat. I also have the hard wire kit, which should be included in the product, but that's how you give them ten more dollars I guess. Installation is very easy and strait forward. The image quality is perfect, the angle is wide and license plates are readable in the daytime, but night viewing is quite dark. I also have an older version on my other vehicle due to the less than qualified drivers in my area.The only dislike I have for this device is that the hard wire kit is not included. I greatly dislike wires and clutter in the vehicle for permanently installed items. The camera blends in perfectly with the vehicles rain sensor and mirror. So far, no passenger has even noticed the addition of the camera without me mentioning it.
